Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah is a lawyer, entrepreneur, and politician with an impressive educational background. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with Philosophy and a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the prestigious University of Ghana, Legon, and has a Professional Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law. Dr. Kumah also holds an Executive Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Finance) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in applied business research from the Nobel International Business School.

In November 2020, he earned a doctorate in business innovation from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland, further solidifying his expertise in the fields of business and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Kumah has a rich professional background, having served as the founding Managing Director of Majak Associates Ltd., a building and construction firm. After becoming a lawyer, he established Aduaprokye Chambers and served as its Managing Partner until his appointment as CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) in 2017.

During his tenure as CEO of the NEIP, Dr. Kumah played a crucial role in training startups and businesses, leading to the creation of numerous jobs for youth across Ghana. He is currently the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti Region, as well as the Vice Chairman of the Constitutional, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, a member of the Appointments Committee, and a member of Parliament’s Subsidiary Legislation Committee.

Dr. Kumah is also the Deputy Minister in charge of wealth creation and budget implementation support at the Ministry of Finance. He is at the forefront of the government’s efforts to create jobs and wealth for Ghanaians through strategic project implementation.

Dr. Kumah’s outstanding contributions to Ghana have been widely recognized; he was named the most efficient and prominent government appointee in 2018 and one of President Akufo-Addo’s 20 most humble and respectful appointees in 2019. His vast knowledge and expertise continue to make him a valuable asset to the Ghanaian government and the country at large.
