Dr. Kodjo Esseim Mensah-Abrampa is a distinguished scholar and practitioner in development planning and public finance, currently serving as the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) in Ghana. In addition to this role, he is also an esteemed member of several boards and councils.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Mensah-Abrampa worked as the Senior Technical Adviser to the Ministry of Planning and played a crucial role in developing the Coordinated Programme for the President of Ghana (2017-2024) and facilitating its dissemination. He has also held various positions in international organizations, including the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Capital Development Fund, where he facilitated private sector funding of public infrastructure and local economic development in East and Southern Africa.

A seasoned academic, Dr. Mensah-Abrampa has lectured in Development Planning and Management at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, served as a Monitoring and Evaluation Expert at the National Development Planning Commission, and acted as a Senior Governance Adviser for the Netherlands Development Organization in Accra. He is also an accomplished consultant, having advised and worked with various development organizations, including the World Bank, EU, DfID, GIZ, and AfDB, among others.

Dr. Mensah-Abrampa has shared his wealth of knowledge and experience as a guest lecturer at the University of Dortmund in Germany from 1996 to 1999 and has contributed to scholarly activities in the Yale Governance and Local Development Conflict Management Programme in July 2015, as well as MIT’s Urban and Regional Planning Programme in August 2015.

With a Bachelor’s in Development Planning from KNUST, a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Ghana, and a Doctorate in Development Economics and Public Financial Management from the University of Dortmund, Germany, Dr. Mensah-Abrampa is a recognized authority in his field. He also holds several certificate programs in diplomacy, poverty management, and security and crisis management.

Outside of his professional accomplishments, Dr. Mensah-Abrampa is also a gazetted traditional leader as the Fotosanfohene of Denkyira Traditional Council with the stool name Nana Dr. Esseim Kwaakontan III, reflecting his strong connections to his Ghanaian heritage.
